Wild plant id.
This is the plant which is growing all the way along our lane. It does look like the Gillenia but that is not a British wild flower.
The stem is square by the way.

Its alright I have the same problems, I was looking at a cowslip yesterday and just couldn't bring the name to mind. I had to go to my wildflower book.

meadowsweet Filipendula ulmaria. that little frill at the stem/leaf junction is pretty diagnostic.
lots in our wayside paths too.
