We noticed this plant in one of our beds and as we don’t recall planting it decided to transfer it to a suitable container.
We have no idea what it is and would like to have it identified. Hopefully one of the members will be able to help. It has just started to bud and the flower looks like it will be white.
Cheers, iain_p

Looks like Anemone japonica. But as to which one? some can be quite invasive others more well behaved.

I thought it looks more like a Heuchera; maybe villosa or alum root.

SBG is dead right but beware this plant can be a nightmare so I would suggest you keep in the pot. I am at present, trying to eradicate this plant from my garden.

They aren't all invasive though. I had lovely white Honorine Jobert for a number of years and she was very well behaved. White Swan is a beautiful civilised one too, so if your flower opens and is still white it might be worth cherishing. Its the pale pink one (the species?) that spreads like the plague. And there's a small yellow one that Parkers sent me by mistake so no idea what it really was, but that was hard to eradicate too.

Thank you so much for your comments.
I shall keep my eye on it hopefully it will be the none invasive type. I haven’t noticed any others like it in my garden. Fingers crossed.

I have been trying for ten years to get rid of the pink variety of this, which is the Japanese Anemone. I have been told the white one is better behaved, but am not going to chance it. The pink one just spreads and roots everywhere and puts up with the lawnmower, weedkiller and digging - so beware.

Thank you for that info. The flower hasn’t fully opened yet and I’m hoping it’s the white variety.
Will keep it in the container.

I have Queen Charlotte and September charm as well as A huphensis and all 3 haven't yet got out of hand though they have been allowed to fill in a 6ftx3ft area of bed. It took ages for them to establish, I suspect the soil is rather poor in this part of the garden and that has helped contain them.

Thanks for that SBG the one in my container seems to be quite slow in developing and the flower hasn’t opened yet.

How do I say thanks?
