Try using the 'flag' option to contact admin. Then you can type your message. It never fails when I use it.

I haven't had any notifications for years. I just look every day - it doesn't take long.

it is only this last week that I haven't had them. to be honest as stera says it doesnt take long to check 'my news'.

I never got notifications. I didn't know it was a thing.

Thanks for your comments and help. I've been receiving notifications regularly but no longer. Can't remember how it was organised but I think I had to tick a box.
Anyway I've sent an email to the address you mentioned, Hywel. I know it doesn't take long to view comments I only visit about once a week, sometimes less than that so it's good to know when there is an answer to a problem I've posed.

In recent weeks I haven't had notifications either, perhaps it isnt going to be a feature of the site in future.

It could have something to do with your email browser. Sometimes you can turn on or off notifications. My notifications show up on my home screen when I log in. I use FireFox.
