Unknown name to plant

Hello, I am trying to find the name of a plant that has been in my garden to my knowledge for 19 years. I'll try and describe it as clearly as I can. It grows about 2ft high and dies down over winter period. It is is quite dainty like and looks a bit like a fern. It flowers May/July with tiny yellow flowers which are fairly insignificant so I presuming it's main attraction is it's leaves. In the 19 years the plant has not particularly spread. I am just hoping someone may be able to be able to help. Thanks in advance of your replies. Sorry I do not have any photos.
