I don't know if this is the right answer but I remember Nan just taking off cuttings and popping them straight into some water and the roots quickly grew in this manner. I'm sure there will be many other ways and you no doubt will receive many answers. Hope this helps.

I always wait until the seed pods are ready to burst, I then put a bag over the seed pod and just gently squeeze the pod, It will burst and all the seed can be collected, squeezing the pods made me jump the first time. I am inundated with the Impatients (busylizzy) they seem to self seed without any help from me.

I do the same as Daff, and after I nhave collected the 1st 1000 or so I let the grandchildren have their fun with the seed pods
