Ideally, keep them in a frost-free place. If no room for that, you could try taking cuttings: cut short stem below a joint, taking off all leaves except at the tip. Push cuttings into moist compost (several in one pot) and keep in an opaque white plastic bag (no idea why this works, but it seems to!).
