Hywel is correct the stinking Iris or Gladwyn.
Iris foetidissima according t the RHS, but I always thought it was as Hywel said.
The ones i have came courtesy of the birds.

Thanks SBG , I always associate them with birds as well , they grow in a lot of damp places where we walk ..
