Hi all, I wonder if anyone can help my daughter please, she has bought two salix braided willow, it says it grows 2 m in height and 1m wide, but would the roots be invasive.Thank you for your help.

Salix is the latin name for willow so unless they are some special type / variety of willow then yes the roots will be invasive and the 2 M height is wishful thinking, they'll be a tree in no time but height could be kept under control with pruning, as could the roots by root pruning I assume

Does the label give a species name for the Willow? Only there are some dwarf varieties which do not grow too large or have wide spreading root systems.

It does not Owdboggy, just braided willow, suitable for pots, hope it is a dwarf one, thank you for answering.

If it is suitable for pots then I would think it was a dwarf type rather than the bigger growing ones. The usual one for braiding is S. integra or sometimes S alba x purpurea.
