i have a young Rhubarb planted last year. Was doing well but now a strange thick stem topped with pinkish cauliflower florets has appeared from the middle. Do you know what this is?

the structure is the developing flower stalk and it isn't going to harm the plant. do as suggested and pull it out. My daughter cut the top 6" off mine once and it didn't do any harm.

It's gone to seed just break it off as low down as you can don't cut it. And don't pull any to eat in the first year
