I’m on top of my problem with horsetails which I had all over the back garden and spend half an hour every morning pulling them up. But there are never any in my lawn. Is this to be expected ?

the mowing will keep them down and over time hopefully kill the root stock.

That’s the thing, there never have been any horsetails to mow down. My son looks after it and has never noticed one horsetail.
Next door has a poor lawn and they do have them.

Constant mowing of the lawn probably keeps them down if they are there.
