My sister has a shrub in her garden and we don't know the name of it. The flowers are clusters of tiny bell like blooms and the leaves are kind of heart shaped and deeply veined. I'm afraid I don't have a pic of it in flower but here are the leaves. Does anyone know this shrub please?

If it is the second photo it does look like a philadelphus although the leaves look strangely curled up. . Does it have white flowers in June/July and a strong scent?

One of my philadelphus bushes' leaves has curled up like this - I put it down to the weather, and it's a new planting that's had a tough first year. It's still alive, so that's a plus.

Yes Anchorman! It does have white flowers in June/July with a strong scent....
Am I right in thinking that Philadelphus is mock orange?
Interesting what you say about your curled leaves Beattie. My sister said hers didn't flower at all the previous year and flowered profusely this year but the leaves have curled on her bush too.
Thanks for all the feedback...it's a great way to learn.

Yes Macpat, Philadelphus is also known as mock orange. It is one of my favourite shrubs. I have one close to my kitchen door and it starts to flower just before my birthday in early June.
Here it is

Previous question
« Hi folks. Can anyone tell me what this tree is please? From a distance it looks...
Next question
Are they the same bush? The lower one looks like Philadelphus, but the top one doesn't. I don't have a clue about the first picture - that's where flowers help!
