Plant ID Please...
I have found three bush like plants, round in shape and about 1.5- 2 ft in diameter. They are growing in most soil around my ponds. What caught my attention was their attractiveness. They have branches with lacy like leaves and on the tip of each is a small flower each which is a different color ranging from white to light pink. I reside in the mid Atlantic east coast of the USA. It is the first time that I have noticed this new resident in my garden. Is anyone familiar with this plant? If my photos appear a bit hazy it is because today is as hot as blazes with very high humidity.

WOW! Right on the mark SBG. I got some detail on your ID and it is the Epilobium ciliatum aka Fringed Willow Herb. It likes moist soil which is why it is growing around my ponds. A pretty plant but it is considered an invasive pest. Thank You!

It also produces lots of seed on 'thistledown'. The original Fantasia from Disney has a section where they show the seed capsules releasing their seed fairies.
Excellent food plants for moths, especially the elephant hawk moth.

SBG you have brought to mind another creation of Disney. Using nature film clips of various species of butterflies spliced together, they showed their complete life cycle to the music of Ravel’s Bolero. It was a beautiful and evocative nature short subject film and I’m afraid that it has been lost or Disney has it locked up in a vault for I have never been able to find it on the web or a catalog.

they remind me of one of the willow herbs. Not sure which one though.
