Plant I.d please. Is this a dahlia or coneflower? Am trying to find it on Dahlia catalogue website but can't find anything similar. When looking at the flower more closely it appears the middle bit of flower( can't remember what it's called) is raised so now unsure what it is? Any suggestions greatfully received.

Could be Dahlia Bishop of Oxford.

The foliage looks like Dahlia but I'm not convinced about the flowers. I am inclined to go more with helianthemum/ rudbeckia types rather than echinacea.

it is lovely.

can you take any photos of buds or spent flowers to help with id. Dahlia buds and spent bits are very characteristic.

Unless the flowers are from something which has grown up through the purple leaves?

The photo was taken at Wollerton Old Hall gardens on my last visit there on Saturday. Thank you, think it’s a very close match to heliopsis red shades.
