I have 2 liquidamber trees bought from the same nursery at the same time and planted next to one another. One is a beautiful amber colour now, but the other one always stays green. Why is this? I ordered 2 of the same variety and both have been treated in the same way.for several years.

I bought a liquidamber tree a few years ago and it never did much, colourwise. I had it out in the end. It was the variety 'Worplesdon' or 'Worpleston' and was supposed to give good colour. I have learnt since that the soil makes a difference, so maybe it was just the wrong one for my garden soil.

Welcome to GoY.
There are several species of Liquidamber and I wonder if you did actually get two of the same variety or even species. This could be the reason one is staying green. Does it drop green leaves too? Or do they eventually turn colour?
