We have 2 small apple trees purchased this year 1 a cox and 1 a russet what is this about a grease band?also we had this green flat bug that laid grubs like worms and it was affecting the tree badlywhat is the best thing to treat/kill those,we have also a cherry tree in garden that has to be sprayed with systemic .

Hello Gemma, welcome to Goy. You put a grease band on each tree as high up as possible so not to get splashed with mud, this is for the winter moth which is wingless, also other enemies that creep up the trunk. Spray with winter wash in January after pruning. Follow up with spraying in the spring and early summer. You need to grease band stakes or canes if supporting the trees.
