Moss in lawn - help
Please !
I’ve not posted for ages as my house move fell through so I’ve been living with family for 9 months. At last I’ve moved house in December and I’m trying to get to grips with the garden but one half of the lawn is full of moss.
That part doesn’t get much sunlight. Is there a way of dealing with the moss without the lawn looking terrible for ages !
Any help very welcome

If you should unfortunately come to the point of wanting to reseed it there is now a grass seed designed for damp shady lawns.

« Hi can I have help identifying this tree please. Many thanks
I hope you enjoy your new home nad garden. Exciting to see what will pop up over time.
well the moss will still look green if you leave it alone.
To restore the grass you will need to scarify [remove the moss with a rake or a scarifying machine] the surface. Then using a fork improve the aeration/drainage by spiking the ground down to about 4". [Or use a hollow tine rake]
brush in some sharp sand to aid drainage. then use a spring feed for any grass you have to recover and grow away.
Any bare patches reseed with a variety that is happy in a shadier spot.
if you use a moss killer the lawn will turn black but you still have to do the above to remove the dead moss.
