Hello friends,
We have a Pieris "Forest Flame". It's several years old now & nearly 4ft. high and quite woody, with stems up to 1.25" thick. It still flowers but is more wood than bloom.
Do you think it's wise to give it a heavy pruning, say down to about 15" height, or would it be better to replace it?
If pruning is an option, please advise when it's best to do it.
Many thanks for your help.
Best wishes,
Wingco

I’ve just fed mine which has given it a boost.

I've just topped both mine with Ericaceous compost,as well as other acid loving shrubs too,and I've cut wayward stems back several times, which has been beneficial..

Thanks very much to all for your help with our pieris. I'll be sure to wipe the cutting blades with alcohol before I start any pruning.
