Hi, I was weeding in the garden today and found 3 of these little things, I think they may be pupae of a moth. I have covered them back over with soil but I am wondering if they are pupae of a moth have these come from cut worms and if they have will they hatch and make more cut worms, shall I remove them from the soil? Thanks ever so much

it also looks like the angleshades moth or one of the yellow underwing type.and they have a green /brown caterpillars.
I often find these and last year I got a lesser yellow underwing.
If really curious to know pop them in a jam jar with some soil and leaf litter with a perforated lid and see what emerges.

I also think it looks like a moth. If you put them in a big jar(s) for ID, a shaded spot might be best (and remember to check regularly).
