This happened to my beetroot 2 years running...hoping the mice?? enjoyed them!! Any tips on prevention of this happening again will be gratefully received. Thank you.

You have hungry mice in your garden, or possibly rats ... mice would be a bit small to do this damage. I don't know how you'd prevent them except maybe grow the beetroot in tubs or a raised bed where you could put wire or something around them for protection.
