hi all , i was just walking through our local market and came across a stall selling off some plants , i couldnt resist getting a banana plant for a pound its about two foot high now ......my question is can i keep it in the ground next year with protection ie cutting off the leaves and wrapping it up

If it's one of those beautiful purple leafed ones, then it's probably Ensete ventricosum 'Maurelii', not hardy, and must be protected from frost. Phil J
