My Ceanothus is struggling to survive. Each year it starts to flower but then the flowers die off before fully blooming. the plant is in a pot so this is obviously not helping but does it need feeding with something in particular? I have owned it for about 2 years!

Damian, I think you have answered your own question. Most of the Ceanothus varieties tend to be quite big. Anything in a container will need regular watering and feeding. As it produces a large root system there will be less space for compost. I would transplant it into the garden from the container and I'm sure it will benefit. Also perhaps a few feeds of sulphate of potash would do no harm.
