They prefer neutral to slightly acidic soil so you may need to use ericaceous compost around yours SBG.

humus rich, lots of leaf mould etc. I dont think they are too fussy about the acid/alkalinity of the soil. Well I hope not as I have bought several for a slightly alkaline soil.
