Hi there,
I'm new to this site and am wondering if someone could help me please? I have a tree in my garden which I am trying to identify. I have attached a couple of pictures - I'm sorry, they are not very clear. The leaves have a slight red/pink colour on the edges.
Many thanks in advance for your help!
Carolyn.

Hi there Fractal,
Thank you for your quick reply - this is very helpful! We were told the name which sounded very much like Acer, but we could not remember it.
Thanks again for this!
Carolyn.

Next question
Hi Carolyn. This is an Acer palmatum (Japanese Maple). There are many selected cultivars of this species, often with Japanese names with many being selected over there for several centuries in some cases. Yours looks like a purple, cut-leaved type (of which there are many). Acer palmatum 'Garnet' (Dissectum group) looks to be a good candidate though there are many within the Dissectum sub-group with purple leaves!
