Is anyone else frustrated at not being able to get outside to do things? It's been so darned cold and wet that though I managed to prune my dwarf apple tree (badly I suspect) yesterday it's just not my weather for gardening. I want to move a physocarpus which has outgrown it's spot but although the ground is quite wet I don't relish digging up a load of mud!
I think I've found a spot for it too. Oh well that's that then. For now.

I am also desperate to get out in the garden and out on the motorbike with husband. if its not raining its to cold or the roads are too greasy with mud and spilt diesel/fuel.

At least I can potter in the greenhouse,

I'm another one, so cold & if not then it's wet & soggy. Still not cleared away the runner bean canes yet but at least I did get the apples pruned.

I am. Been unable to stand up much for 2 weeks now. Things can only get better lol! I don’t even have a garden yet! Hang on in there! I have done a bit of planning and a bit of online shopping. Yesterday I bought an Abies on EBay to replace the one I left in Scotland. It’s the little frosty one ‘Kohout’s Icebreaker’. Only the second time I’ve used eBay for plants. Hope it will be a good one!

Yes Verlie, I’m frustrated too … there is so much that I’d like to be doing out there but it’s too wet and cold. I did go out yesterday and put fleece round two Loropetalum (though they had withstood the low temps so far) then this morning saw a squirrel dragging the fleece up a tree! OH managed to pull it down but of course it was in tatters - I almost wished we’d left some for the squirrel.
Now there’s more fleece battened down with pegs and boulders … if the squirrel gets hold of it again I think he deserves to keep it!

I had a 'priority' hip replacement in September so last year was a wash out as far as gardening was concerned. I've been desperate to get out and start restoring the garden but January was either too cold, wet or windy to do much more than feed the birds and skim leaves off the pond. This week has been better though, I have started gently by pruning my hydrangea petiolaris, weeding the larger pots and taking the ivy back to within the boundaries I prefer on the utility room wall. My hands haven't been happy, it has upset the carpel tunnel syndrome in both hands but emotionally I feel better for having made a start, lol. I have had to resort to employing a young gardener to do the heavier jobs, he's coming on Tuesday to dig the bindweed out of the borders in the greenhouse and hopefully weed last year's legumes bed in the veg patch before emptying a compost bin onto it. Little by little I am determined to restore order in my garden!
