Hi everyone. I hope you're all looking forward to spring as much as I am! It's been a while I realise but I'm slowly awakening my garden and preparing and planning a Garden trail in our village for charity. (Shropshire Mental Health Support) So I had a question when to prune back my clematis Viticella 'Etoile Violette' group 3 that I only planted last year. It has green shoots appearing and says prune in late winter and early spring.... Is NOW THE TIME? Many thanks

Ams, have a look at this very informative blog I keep on my Favourites. It really is very helpful. Early Spring, as soon as you can spot the buds.

Sounds like a plan!

Amsterdam, perhaps wait to feed until beginning of April. Any quick-acting fertiliser will encourage early soft growth with will be burnt off by the frosts.

Thank you Jimmytheone. Sounds like a very sensible suggestion.
