when do i prune my pieris bush

On plant Pieris japonica

Don't prune this bush unless you have to for size issues. If you do this now you'll encourage new growth that will be prone to frost damage. If you do have to reduce it for whatever reason, try to leave this until after the red shoots have turned to green in early summer. Then, cut out whatever branches/twigs that need removal. However, it will take quite severe pruning if it's really got out of hand!
