Asking for a friend. The shrubs planted in the shade of the Pittosporum tree are dying off. She has already removed a Camellia and a Choisya. The unknown shrub in the centre is now dying. They are/were all well established shrubs.

It looks a very dry area Shirley...have the shrubs been watered regularly? A Camelia has to be moist in order to produce buds for next Spring...hope that helps.

Julia, I have sent her a link to the RHS website with regards to this issue. It's strange as she says all the well established shrubs are dying, whereas the more shallow rooted plants are fine. I wonder if there is a fungus or something, deep down in the soil.

Looking again I can see the Pittisporum tree is brown in some areas.

Yes, I thought that too.

Oh dear…looks bad doesn’t it. I wonder if there’s some Honey fungus. It does look dry mind you. I hope she can resolve it as that Pittosporum tree is such a lovely shape.

Thanks Karen ... I shall tell her to look at Honey fungus information.

She sends apologies for the poor photo. Perhaps you could enlarge it on your screen?
