Smoke bush dying back.
United Kingdom
My smoke bush (more like a tree), this year has flowered well and there is alot of new healthy growth. Unfortunately there are also areas that are dying off. These seem to be at the ends of the branches and working their way back down the branch. Could this be "verticillium wilt disease". Will this eventually kill the whole tree. Is there any thing to cure this
Hope you can help
Steve.

I would cut out any dead branches, even if you have to go right back to the ground/base of branch. If you take out 2 or 3 every year the plant will stay young and produce a supply of new shoots. Dead branches should always be removed as they could let disease in even if they were not killed by one.
