Hi can anyone help me ? How do I prune a lemon scented cypress (wilma half standard) head is shaped like a round headed lolipop! Dont how to prune this shape.... any tips please would be must appreciated and can I do it now at this time of year?

Do it slowly till you get the hang of it, keep stopping and standing back and walk around it to see that you are keeping the shape you want, better to take off too little than too much. I wouldnt use shears either.

It should be okay as it grows TG if it snows hard again you might want to gently brush it off.

I'd wait til Spring or early summer as trimming now may result in brown edges on the shoots. The main thing to remember with conifers is that they may not sprout from brown wood, so just lightly trim off the green soft growth to maintain the shape. Of course, you can prune off any shoots that grow that aren't part of the 'lollipop' part.
