Hi Everyone, I haven't posted anything for a long time. I do hope you are all well and enjoying the fine weather we are having so far this year. I hope you can help me identify the plant in the photo. Is it lemon balm? It does have square stems like a mint plant. Many thanks for your help.

Thanks for the reply Thorneyside. I had crushed a leaf and it has a musty, slightly lemon smell. Not distinctively lemony, as mint is minty. That is what made me wary. But am glad to have your reassurance that it looks like lemon balm.

Awful stuff it is too. Spreads as badly as bindweed. Personally, I hate the stench of it too.

You're right Owdboggy, I've been trying to get rid of it for a lot of years. Just keeps popping up somewhere else.

Looks like lemon balm to me. Squeeze a leaf, you'll soon know from the smell.
