« which shrub can replace dwarf buxus that has contracted box blight
(I'm no expert) but I have a deciduous Azalea called 'Lucifer', has orangey red flowers in summer. Floiage is nice just now, still waiting for the leaves to fall off :)
I can't find any pics online but I found this info.....
Tall, broad, deciduous shrub that is extremely cold hardy and can withstand temperatures between -15 to -25 degrees Fahrenheit. Fragrant, double, widely funnel-shaped, reddish-orange flowers, 1 1/2 to 2 1/4 inches wide. Flowers are borne in showy trusses from late spring to midsummer. The deciduous hybrid azalea, like it's native counterpart, is known for excellent fall color and unsurpassed spring flowers. The deciduous azalea is usually less picky about soil conditions, though it too prefers well-drained and acid conditions. Though azaleas have a potentially large list of possible pest and disease problems, they are usually trouble free if planted correctly in proper cultural conditions.
