I did this for the first time last year. Cut a piece 3" - 4" long just below a leaf joint and remove all the lower leaves. Push into a pot of damp compost, then make a mini cloche by cutting off the top third of a 1 litre plastic bottle. Push this into the compost and keep in a cold frame. With any luck it will have rooted by next Spring. Best to take several shoots in case they don't all work!
