Just received allium bulbs but the ground is now frozen. Can I plant them in pots, place outdoors and replant in the ground in the spring? I live in NYS.

I think that you have to plant them in pots now, J. If you have somewhere that is light but just frost free that is were I would put them for this winter, otherwise outside. Don't replant in spring but bury the pot in the ground. Replant later in the summer when the foliage has died down.
