Oh, horror of all horrors shock in the garden! Creepy deceased begonia exhumed body. I've seen carrots looking like willies before, and potatoes looking like breasts, and parnsnips looking like mating couples. But this hand is the worst I have come across. It was in a hanging basket, remnant of my summer display. Has anyone else ever found anything this bad?

Who would have thought an innocent begonia could? Halloween all over again.

It does look like something out of a horror film! LOL! I've always cut them back as soon as they have died down so I've never seen them like that!
I've repotted Spider plants but I've never felt repulsion for the thick, fleshy roots! I've a small one in the kitchen & it's roots are coming out of the bottom of the pot. It's sitting in a decorative ceramic pot cover & now I water directly into that instead of the pot as there no room for water! I'll repot it in the spring but it seems happy enough with the treatment it gets at present.

Huh, there's many like that at the bottom of our village. Six fingers is nothing unusual! Nice find! Worthy.

I don't know what it is about fleshy roots, Balcony, but I find them repulsive - I have the same trouble with orchids and anything that produces aerial roots ugh, can't bear 'em...

The other horrid thing is when you try to pull off the dead stems and they're all mushy and slimy!!

These corm begonias do look repellent at this stage - I always remove the top stems at the end of autumn to avoid having to deal with something so unpleasant looking, lol! Ever repotted a spider plant? I remember being completely freaked out by the fleshy, repellent roots on that years ago...
