in the past I have sprinkled 3 seeds on the top of copost in 3" pots. when they grow to the size of a chive I plant them out, removing the 2 weakest seedlings. they are nice in salads rather than composting them. Follow planting distances.
Alternativley sow in drills direct in the soil and thin as and when needed.

thanks SB will try that, i normally grow them from sets but thought i would try them from seed.
