They'll do okay if the pots are big enough - say 2 feet deep by 12 inches wide.

As bamboo said they must be deep pots mine did fine they grew about 12 foot and flowered from late may until end of September the seeds were purchased from the states and were rare Japanese ones that I cant remember the name of but they produced 7 inch speckled flowers
