I am trying to obtain a primula. I think it is quite an old variety! It has a very low habit, almost like pillowy clumps! It has dark/bluey green leaves and a purpley mauve flower with a yellow eye. It is like primula wanda, but the flowers are not on stems! I think wanda may be a hybrid of the original. Any one out there help me? Wonderboy

A wild guess may not be much help, but I have an early-flowering primula which fits your description. It was bought some years ago in a "mixed bag" of primulas, and I thought the name was something like "magic", but cannot trace it. Thompson & Morgan do a mix called "Arctic" which has dark bluey-green leaves . . . could it be one of them??
