You will be lucky if you can get a spade into the ground at the moment!! I wouldnt risk moving anything yet.

Why, Maggy? I mean why can't you get your spade in the garden currently? Our gardeners have been here today in the communal gardens - they've dug over 2 borders and moved 5 shrubs, no problems. Pretty wet, but not waterlogged.

Bamboo - we've had hard frosts here, and the soil is frozen. I know you wouldn't advocate moving anything while the ground is like that!

It's even frozen in balmy Cornwall!

Good lord, didn't realise you had frozen ground, I mean its been very frosty and -2 at nights here recently, but the ground is by no means frozen, with daytime temps around 6 to 10 deg.

The frost on my grass over the last three days didn't melt. Temps were 3 degrees max. So you're lucky, Bamboo!

Depends what they are, to some extent, Sunshines. Hardy evergreens can certainly be moved as long as the soil isn't frozen, nor waterlogged, dormant perennials can be moved, and some deciduous shrubs.
