I have a large cordyline (15 ft) in my front garden and have notice that near the base of the truck to about 12 inches up there is a bleeding of pink liquid and that part of the tree truck is very wet

Oh dear - if its oozing from the trunk at the base, you will have to chop it down to the ground, I'm afraid - it won't recover with this kind of damage but you may find you get new growth arising directly from the roots under the ground.

Sounds like its been damaged if its 'bleeding'. Could be that thats making it wet or it may be rotting.. difficult o know with out sewing it.
