I am trying to win a prize crossword with the clue "low growing perennial plant with yellow flowers in spring" 9 letters.I thought it was buttercup but it doesn't fit with the others clues, can anybody help please.

Good try bonkersbon - but it's lysimachia (which is ten letters). Maybe it's doronicum (Leopards' Bane)?

The answer to the question was Celandine, thank-you to Poaannua and to everybody else for your help, the prize is not very impressive, just a works' magazine for fun, but if I win I will let you know, this is a great website, very informative!
