I noticed that some members had discussed the apparent "death" of the cabbage tree last year, due to the severe frost reaching record lows. (Some postings were dated February 2010). I wondered if your trees ever did come back . The same thing has happened to mine this year and I am very sad to have lost it. Many thanks.

Lots did, though often regrowing from the base (from below ground) and sometimes from lower down the stem. Best thing to do is, if you have no rotting or oozing areas on the stems, wait till May or June (or even longer if you can bear to) to see if new growth does arrive, and then cut back the trunks to that point.
