In the Autumn I moved a 2yr. old Philadelphus from what was the wrong spot, so it never flowered, into a sunny position. However, I understand they should be pruned immediately after flowering. As it has never flowered, just produced lots of green branches, would it be safe to prune it now or should I leave it until it does.

You're right, it should be pruned in summer after flowering. If you prune it now, you'll just prune off all the flower buds for this year.
