last winter we lost an approx 10 foot high palm tree. We now have a dead stump which is on the north side of a south east facing garden, standing in the open & in quite heavy soil. Would it be possible to grow an attractive climber up this. For example a clematis?

Thank you

yes, so long as you wrap the stump in netting or clematis mesh for the clematis to climb up. The only problem is the trunk won't take that long to rot down and fall over - it's not as solid as a tree stump.
