I usually throw it around the garden to help our soil which is very sandy. Sometimes I add to our compost heap. Doctorbobs ideas sound great. I will do that too. Welcome to GOY.

depends on its actual use as some seedlings could get deseases from last years plants.i would do what chrispook sais and revitealise your garden or for potting on when the plants are older

Don't get too disease conscious. We use many ways to sterilize soil.
Remember to burn diseased plants and rotate your crops even flower beds, when we grew Geraniums year after year in the same bed, they developed stem rot. .
To keep it simple you will get follow on in wet weather and Geranium fire in the stock.

Thanks everyone for all the help, but what I should have saqid was that the compost is peat based - will that make a difference to your suggestions ?

Definitly, Even better than newer compost.
Mixed with soil and sand for potting.
Mix in with any new compost you are making to activate the process.
Contains Nitro Bactira and Nitro Cocus.
