hi u can grow grass seed anytime really but i advise you to cover it with something as the birds will eat it it will come through after two weeks but dont cut it for 3 months and water it gently hope that helps.

Grass seeds germinate best when the soil has warmed up in Spring or before it cools down too much in the Autumn. If you plant new seed in the Summer (hopefully!!!) you would have to water it, and in the winter it is a wsate of time to plant seed .You cut it when it gets to about 2 inches and then only take an inch off, depends on the take when you cut it ,you cannot say 3 months, could be longer but if it does really well could be much earlier.

Now is the ideal time to sow grass. I successfully kept the birds from my seeds last year by stringing twine up across the seeded areas and suspending old cds from it. The slightest breeze is enough to make the cds spin and bounce. Very effective
