I have realised lots of Palm Trees have perished in our severe Winter. I have one that seems to be suffering. The bark near the top feels soft and damp and the leaves seem to pull off easy. On the top I can see some dead but still plenty of green - with brown ends. Am I going to loose this lovely feature of our house eventually or is there something I can do to help to save it? Rose

Your plant has been damaged by the winter, Rose - just wait if you can bear to. You will need to cut back past the soggy area, but this is best left till April if you want to give the plant a chance to recover. You may find it shoots up the trunk, or from the base, or both, and when it does, cut back to that point. You may have to wait till June or later though to see new growth.
