Gunnera
I have a Gunnera that is about 5 years old. Last winter I did the usual and pulled over the dying leaves to protect the crown, I looked at the plant today and there seems no signs of life, everything seems soggy. Is it too early for growth yet or has the extreme cold got to it? your opinions please.

I'll give it a little longer - should I uncover it to help dry the crown? or is it too much of a risk from frost.
Bulbaholic - I'm glad theres still a chance.
Noseypotter - no worries.

if its ok it will basicly grow threw its old leaves . much easier lol .if it survives i would add straw next time as these 2 cold winters on the trot have taken there toll .

Appart from covering with the old leaves in Oct/Nov I don't do anything at all with ours. Just leave it to get on by itself!

Sorry about that, Kfunsters. Ours is starting into growth and is about to have its first flower - in the north of Scotland.
