Fresh seed germinates better than stored, but both will eventually grow if you can keep the mice off them. Sow about half an inch deep in deep pots rather than seed trays, using a standard seed sowing compost but with added grit to improve drainage. Sow the seeds now if you have them. Then put the pot somewhere where the weather can do its work. They need a period of cold to break down the germination inhibitors. You may well see nothing for 2 years, so patience is needed.
