Replanting a rosebed

I have to replant a cicular rosebed, which had an inner ring of 8 roses and an outer one of 16 roses. As i cann't use roses again i would wlcome any suggestions. It is the centrepiece of my south facing front garden

it depends on what soil you have really although south facing woudl suggest mediterranean seletions . Also what is the drainage like, the age ofthe house, the surrounding planting styles and other such questions. I recently made a knot garden out of lavenders with different coloured foilage and flower sothat is had year round appeal, plus inter planted with spring bulbs and a caryopteris in tthe centre os lavender hedges for colour right now- it looksgreastand withstands all the drout and heat a south facing aspect gives it- ony maintenance is yearly pruning of lavender bushes and a few weeds that manage to invade.
