I think you might be getting your plants mixed up - Kruidjie roer my nie (Melianthus major) is not the same plant as the one I think you mean - have a look at Mimosa pudica, commonly known as the sensitive plant. It's leaves furl when you touch them and it has lilacy pompom like flowers.
